Born in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA.  XL has infused his work with the rich cultural tapestry of his hometown, earning numerous RIAA Gold & Platinum awards along the way. The journey of XL Productionz is a testament to the enduring influence of New Orleans' musical heritage and the adaptability of its sound.

Donald XL Robertson's foray into music production began with the pulsating, hard-hitting beats that became synonymous with Southern club tracks. This style, deeply rooted in New Orleans culture, quickly caught the attention of major artists and record labels. XL's knack for creating infectious rhythms and memorable Horns arrangements & drum breaks made him a sought-after producer in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

XL Productionz played a pivotal role bringing digital production to No Limit Records, a powerhouse in Southern hip-hop. XL produced hit singles for Master P, Silkk The Shocker, C-Murder, and 504 Boyz, helping to define the label's then new sound. Tracks like "Say Bruh" and "Where Do We Go From Here" showcased his ability to blend gritty hard-hitting drums with catchy melodies.
